the computer chip made it possible to play video poker. Its origins thus lie somewhere in the 1970s. the term video poker in fact simply refers to the variations of the original poker game.
Video poker is the marriage of slot machines and five card draw poker. Like a slot machine the video poker cards are located on reels. The aim of the game is to reach the highest hand in relations to the table for each particular game. Each game has its own unique rules and payoffs. Nevertheless all are played in a comparable manner with its base in original poker.

Scholars agree the game originated a long time ago. This is based on only the elementary philosophy of the game. They also agree that poker is a collection of many different games.
The earliest written account of the game was by a writer named Jonothan Green. This took place in 1834. the game was being played, at the time, on the Mississippi River boats. Then it was called the cheating game. Since Jonathan discovered that he was the first to write about the game he called it poker.
The word poker itself is also highly debated. Already in existence was a French game known as poque. Additionally, there were several references to a German game known as pochspiel.
